More than 4,200 participants will set foot on the right bank of Geneva
More than 10,000 CHF in donations have already been collected for the Breast Cancer Network
The two local stars, Tadesse Abraham and Helen Bekele, will take the start accompanied by many international elites
The Geneva 20km by Genève Aéroport will take place on Sunday November 7 on the right bank of Geneva. With two distances (20 and 10 km) and six different race formats, the event has something to delight the eyes and legs of the participants who will cross the International Geneva before setting off into the heart of the Geneva countryside.
Participants are invited to collect their bibs at Terminal 2 of Genève Aéroport on Friday and Saturday and will benefit from numerous activities offered by the partners.
More than 4,200 runners and walkers are expected this Sunday on the Quai du Mont-Blanc. Among the participants, an exceptional elite field will try to beat the record for the main event held by Swiss champion Tadesse Abraham in 2019 (59'55) who will also be present. On the women's side, the Ethiopian princess from Stade Genève, Helen Bekele, will also be on the starting line of the 20km race and will offer a fabulous show.
Following the popular success of the event, two different starts will be given: A start at 8:30 a.m. for the 20 km races and a start at 12:00 p.m. for the 10 km races. After their race, participants and their companions will be able to celebrate this great sporting challenge by taking advantage of the various activities offered in the event village.
The Breast Cancer Network, the event's charitable partner, will be present at the start of the race to raise participants' awareness of this cause. On this occasion, more than 300 walkers will wear a touch of pink over 10 km to symbolize the health journey of patients and their families. A great success since more than CHF 10,000 have already been raised to support this cause.
The director of the event, Benjamin Chandelier, speaks enthusiastically: “We are very happy to see our runners, volunteers and partners physically again this year. We were very happy to be able to offer them a connected challenge in 2020 but nothing beats a real race! We would like to thank the 300 volunteers who will be present during the event as well as all our partners and particularly Genève Aéroport. We also thank the City and Canton of Geneva as well as the 4 other municipalities crossed; Grand-Saconnex, Pregny-Chambésy, Genthod and Bellevue” .
Online registrations are still open until Wednesday November 3, 11:59 p.m. via the event website. For latecomers, it will also be possible to register when collecting bibs at Terminal 2 of Genève Aéroport.
